This photograph shows people at an outdoor event that was held during Saarang, in 2005. Saarang is the annual cultural festival of IIT Madras, with numerous events held in different venues on campus. Similarly, the event in this photograph was held at an outdoor location on campus, as can be seen from the amount of trees and sunlight in the photograph.
People in the audience are both seated and standing. Behind them, in the background of the image, a large group of people can be seen standing, perhaps viewing another event that was taking place there.
According to the schedule of events that year, some of the many events during the 2005 edition of Saarang were Western Music Solo, Western Music Group, Light Music Solo, Light Music group, Semi Classical Vocals and Antakshari. Other events were Quiz, Potpourri, Extempore, Informals, Creative Writing, Debate, Fine Arts, Radio Play and Crossie. Apart from events and competitions, live Professional Shows and workshops were also conducted.
