This photograph provides some details of the visit of Mr. Hans Klein (Federal Minister of Economic Co-operation, Federal Republic of Germany) to IIT Madras. The writing says “His Excellency Mr. Hans Klein Federal Minister of Economic Co-operation, FRG Handing Over Siemens 7580-E Computer System to I. I. T. Madras on 22nd March 1988”.

Colour terminals were a rarity at the time, with most terminals having only single colours such as off-white or green.
