This photograph was taken in 2012 during the 63rd Republic Day celebrations on campus. Prof. Bhaskar Ramamurthi (Director of IIT Madras, 2011-2022) is flanked by Mr. A. Thirunavukkarasu (Registrar of IIT Madras, 2009-2012) and SFO (Security-cum-Fire Officer) Mr. Narayan Elumalai. They are escorted by security personnel.
The event for the Republic Day was held in front of the Administration Building. The Republic Day celebration also saw the Director reviewing the security officers’ parade, a speech by the Director, and renditions of several patriotic and national songs. It was attended by faculty and staff members, residents and students.
