Dr. Bindseil addresses the audience at Dr. A. L. Mudaliar’s farewell function

A farewell function was held in honour of Dr. A. L. Mudaliar on 30th August 1969 and at the event there were a number of speeches given. During his speech, Dr. Bindseil said, “..We from the German side, Dr. Mudaliar, have always considered it as a privilege and honour that you were for so many years the Chairman of the Board of Governors, as a person who has the deepest understanding for the promotion of the Indo-German Co-operation in the scientific field and for all matters connected with IIT, Madras, as an outstanding example of the collaboration between India and Germany..”. Then he went on to extend best wishes to Dr. A. L. Mudaliar on behalf of the German Government, Dr. Karl Pfouter (German Consul General), his colleagues and himself.

C. Gourishankar (1926-2002). A geologist by qualification, Gourishankar started his career as a photographer after working for many years with the Geological Survey of India. In everything that he did, Gourishankar strove to achieve flawlessness and impeccable quality. Thus his photography too was characterised by this drive for perfection. Every photograph that Gourishankar took was meticulously planned and shot and printed with diligence and patience. Gourishankar carried out most of the official photography at IIT Madras in the 1960s.
