Dr. Lehnartz visited IIT Madras in January 1968 when the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) organized a seminar to discuss further possibilities for improving the programme. It was attended by 50 Indian grantees of German scholarships. Dr. Lehnartz was in his final year as President of the DAAD when he visited IIT Madras. He was also accompanied by his wife Mrs. Lehnartz (also in the photograph).
