Dr. Lehnartz visited IIT Madras in January 1968 to attend a seminar organized by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD). He was the President of the organization when he visited the Institute. The agenda of the seminar was to “exchange ideas for a possible improvement of the future programmes of the service” and also to make the former scholarship holders aware of the progress in Science and Technology in Germany.
Dr. Karl Pfauter served as head of the cultural department at the German embassy in New Delhi in 1954, and from 1961, he was head of the economic department at the German embassy in Athens. Between 1964 and 1970 he was Consul General for South India in Madras.
