Participants of the DAAD Seminar, 1968

This photograph was taken at the seminar organized by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) in January 1968. This seminar was attended by over 50 Indian grantees of German scholarships. There were also former scholarship holders in attendance. The sign board in the photograph has the words “Seminar for former scholarship holders of the German Academic Exchange Service [DAAD]” written on it.

The DAAD was founded in 1925, offering merit-based grants to students from other countries to study at various universities in Germany. According to German News Weekly, around 500 Indians received scholarships under the programme between 1952 and 1968.
