The photograph appears to have been taken during the visit of Dr. Lehnartz to India. Dr. Lehnartz was the President of the D. A. A. D., which was the German Academic Exchange Service. The D. A. A. D. held a seminar at IIT Madras during his visit and it is likely that this photograph was taken during this time. Dr. Lehnartz can be seen sitting with a cane stick.
