Prof. S. Sampath (Deputy Director, second from left) is showing Dr. Emil Lehnartz (President of the D. A. A. D.) an issue of the campus publication Campastimes. This can be ascertained by the size of the magazine which was printed on A3 size papers in the 1960s. Prof. Sampath was the publisher of Campastimes at this time. To Prof. Sampath’s left hand side (third from left) is Mr. Venkatesh Mannar (B. Tech. Chemical Engineering, 1970). Mr. Mannar was the student editor of Campastimes during this academic year. The other person in the photograph remains unidentified.

The photograph was taken during the visit of Dr. E. Lehnartz in January 1968. He attended and took part in the seminar at IIT Madras which was organized by the German Academic Exchange Service (D. A. A. D.). It is likely that there was a special dinner held at the event during which this photograph was taken.
