Dr. G. Kerckhoff (Minister for Economic Co-operation, Federal Republic of Germany) visited IIT Madras on 11th March 1968. He was the chief guest at the Foundation Stone laying ceremony of the MEMH lab (Machine Elements and Mechanical Handling Laboratory), held on 14th March 1968. A formal event was held outdoors at the site of the lab, during which speeches were given by the chief guest, Director (Prof. A. Ramachandran) and possibly by others who were closely involved in the MEMH lab project.
