Convocations , Institute Events , Student Activities

In the photograph, Dr. M. S. Swaminathan (chief guest) is escorted by officers from N.C.C., and Prof. K. A. V. Pandalai (Director) can be seen in the background. The building behind them is the Humanities and Sciences Block (HSB), with the Chemistry building located next to it.

At the convocation, the proceedings of the ceremony began with the arrival of the chief guest to the institute. The Director of the Institute and the Registrar always received and greeted the chief guest at the beginning of the ceremony. Once the chief guest was received, he was then escorted to inspect the Guard of Honour that was presented by the N.C.C. cadets. The Guard of Honour disappeared from the proceedings from 1982 onwards.

An identical photograph can be found in the Gourishankar Collection in Album 0210 under the ID 001/0210/IMG_0349.
