The President of the Federal Republic of Germany, Dr. Richard von Weizsäcker was conferred the degree of Doctor of Science (honoris causa) at a special convocation held at IIT Madras. He visited IIT Madras with his wife Marianne.
As seen in the picture, Mrs. Marianne von Weizsäcker (extreme left), Dr. Weizsäcker (third from left) and Prof. N. V. C. Swamy (Director, second from right). Also featured in the image is Prof. R. Nagarajan (Head of Computer Science Department, extreme right). The other persons in the photograph are yet to be identified.
