This photograph was taken during Dr. Richard von Weizsäcker's visit to IIT Madras in 1991. He visited the Institute in order to receive the degree of Doctor of Science (honoris causa). Dr. Weizsäcker was the President of the Federal Republic of Germany when he visited IIT Madras.
As seen in the picture, Prof. R. Nagarajan (Head of Computer Science Department, extreme left), Prof. N. Venkatrayulu (Mechanical Engineering Department, second from left), Dr. Richard von Weizsäcker (third from right) and Mrs. Marianne von Weizsäcker (extreme right). The other persons in the picture are yet to be identified.
