Dr. Richard von Weizsäcker shares a few words with IIT Madras faculty, 1991
This photograph was taken during a special convocation held at IIT Madras to confer the degree of Doctor of Science (honoris causa) on Dr. Richard von Weizsäcker (seen fourth from left).
Dr. Weizsäcker was the President of the Federal Republic of Germany. He visited IIT Madras with his wife Marianne. Prof. N. V. C. Swamy, who is also featured in the picture (fifth from left) was the Director of IIT Madras during this time. From the left, Prof. V. Radhakrishnan (Head of Mechanical Engineering Department), Prof. M. Ravindran (Head of Ocean Engineering Department) and Y. V. G. S. Murti (Physics Department, yet to be confirmed).
