In 2005, Saarang was held from 21 to 26 January. Events in music, debate, quiz, dance, painting, etc. were held. Apart from this, other events were also conducted. The photograph shows 5 students and another person on the stage: two of the students are speaking into a microphone.
The lighting in the photo suggests that it was taken in the evening. Behind them, the banner for the event says “Curls just wanna have fun,” a tagline for Sunsilk’s shampoo. Sunsilk was one of the co-sponsors for the event. This event was held at a location between the Humanities and Sciences Block (HSB) and the Open Air Theatre (OAT).
Earlier called Mardi Gras, Saarang is the cultural festival of IIT Madras. Begun in 1974, it has since grown to include more events.
