Gajendra Circle and the Administrative Building

Landmarks

This photograph shows IIT Madras’ Gajendra Circle and the Administrative Building in one shot. Gajendra Circle, also known as GC, is a well-known landmark of IIT Madras. It is located near IIT Madras’ Library and the Administrative Building; it is also located in the very centre of the campus.

It has gone through several versions and changes from a lamp post, four elephants, two elephants and two people, to the current version seen in this image of Gajendra Circle: two elephants facing opposite sides under a water fountain.

A beautifully blossomed flowering tree is seen next to the Administrative Building. Also, in the photograph, there are people going about their lives as this structure of two elephants stands watching campus life.
