German residents stage a performance on the occasion of the Ninth Institute Day in 1968

A photograph similar to this one has been published in the April 1968 edition of Campastimes. According to Campastimes, the performance was staged by German residents. The association between IIT Madras and Germany goes a long way back, to the very foundation of the institute, which was envisioned by important figures in Indian and German politics. IIT Madras gained support from Germany through the Indo-German agreements which were signed through the years. The participation of the Germans in events and activities organised by IIT Madras shows that the relationship between the two parties was deeper than just an academic collaboration.
