H. E. Theodor Heuss visited the Institute campus in November 1960. His visit has been recorded in the Annual Report of IIT Madras, 1960.

Seen in the photograph are, (first row) Prof. B. Sengupto (Director of IIT Madras), Prof. G. S. Laddha (Director of A. C. Tech.) and H. E. Theodor Heuss (former President of the Federal Republic of Germany) at the portico of the CLRI buildings.
