At IIT Madras, 1963

Visiting VIPs , Administrators

This photograph was taken during the visit of Mr. Walter Scheel to IIT Madras. Mr. Scheel was the Minister of Economic Cooperation of the Federal Republic of Germany. He visited the various facilities at IIT Madras, even interacting with some of the students in the Central Workshops. We know for a fact that he visited the Building Science Block (BSB), Bose-Einstein Guest House and possibly the Electrical Science Block (ESB) as well.

However, it is not clear to us where on campus this particular photograph was taken.

Seen in the photograph, Prof. B. Sengupto (Director of IIT Madras, third from left), Mr. Walter Scheel (Minister of Economic Cooperation of the Federal Republic of Germany, fourth from left) and Mr. Gerhard Fischer (Consul General, Federal Republic of Germany, fifth from left). The other persons in the photograph are yet to be identified.
