There are clues to the place and time of the event in the photograph. The ‘CLRI’ painted on the chairs indicates that the lunch service was in the CLRI. The clock on the wall shows the time around ten minutes to one.

Tech.), Prof. Nayudamma (Director of CLRI, fourth from left) H. E. Theodor Heuss (former President of the Federal Republic of Germany), a gentleman likely to be Heuss' translator and Prof. B. Sengupto (Director of IIT Madras). The other persons in the photograph are yet to be identified.
