Khan, chief guest at the event, inaugurated the stadium at IIT Madras and declared the meet open. Mr. B. S. Sudhir Chandra, in his article in the first issue of ‘Pradeep’ writes that Khan gave a short speech in which he stressed the role of games and physical activity in Universities. The march past of the five contingents took place after this speech.
The person in the white uniform (in background) is most likely Mr. T. N. Venkataraman (Chief Security Officer).
