Mr. D. Chandrasekar receives the Distinguished Alumnus Award at the 50th Institute Day (2009)

This photograph was taken on 17 April 2009 during the 50th Institute Day ceremony. During Institute Days, Prizes and awards are also given to students and alumni. One of those awards is the Distinguished Alumnus Award (DAA) which is the highest award for alumni presented by IIT Madras.
This photograph has captured the then Director of IIT Madras, Prof. M. S. Ananth presenting the award to Mr. D. Chandrasekhar who was one of the recipients of the Distinguished Alumnus Award that year. Standing at the left is Mr. K. V. Rangaswami, the chief guest for the Institute Day. Prof. M. S. Ananth was the Director of IIT Madras from 2001-2011.
Prof. M. S. Ananth has also held several positions in IIT Madras including Professor and Head of Department. The chief guest for the Institute Day was Mr. K. V. Rangaswami, an alumnus of IIT Madras, and at the time, the Whole-time Director & President (Construction) of L&T Ltd.
Mr. D. Chandrasekhar was one of the recipients that year. He graduated from IIT Madras with a B.Tech. in Metallurgy in 1970 and is an entrepreneur who has worked with several companies and industries, and is also the founder member of the Madras Dyslexia Association and its current President and has also held many other posts in his lifetime.
