The photograph was taken in 1983, possibly outside or near the venue which was the Student Activities Centre (SAC). Mr. Giani Zail Singh (President of India) was the chief guest for the convocation. He also inaugurated SAC on this day.

A miniature flag of India and the emblem of the Government of India is placed on the bonnet of the car. The car has been identified as a Hindustan Contessa, from Hindustan Motors. (Identification by Dr. V. Santharam).
