In this photograph, Mr. P. Seshasayi (Manager, Computer Centre) points out something to the chief guest Mr. Hans Klein (Minister for Economic Co-operation, Federal Republic of Germany) at the Computer Centre. It is likely that the terminal is the VT-100 model. Mr. P. Seshasayi mentions in a Campastimes interview from February 1988 that apart from the 80 terminals, another 70 VT-100 terminals could be connected to the system. He mentions that it would be slower than the Siemens terminals.
Seen in the image, Mr. Hans Klein (Minister for Economic Co-operation, Federal Republic of Germany, seated), Dr. Konrad Seitz (Ambassador, Federal Republic of Germany, behind Mr. Klein), Mrs. Eva Seitz (to Dr. Seitz’s left hand side), Mr. P. Seshasayi (talking to Mr. Klein), Prof. B. Yegnanarayana (Head of Computer Science and Engineering Department, extreme right) and Prof. H. N. Mahabala (Department of Computer Science and Engineering, third from right). Mr. C. S. Sourirajan (Junior Systems Officer) can be seen at the back, between Dr. and Mrs. Seitz. The other persons in the photograph are yet to be identified.
