Mr. Walter Scheel with administrators and distinguished guests at IIT Madras, 1963

Visiting VIPs , Administrators

This photograph was taken during the visit of Mr. Walter Scheel to IIT Madras. It appears that either lunch or refreshments have been served to the distinguished guests and administrators. It is very likely that this photograph was taken at the Machines Laboratory on the ground floor of the Electrical Science Block (ESB). This assumption has been made on the basis that the window grills in the Machines Laboratory today (2022) match the grills in the photograph.

Mr. Walter Scheel was the first Minister of Economic Cooperation for the Federal Republic of Germany.

Seen in the photograph, from right, Dr. R. A. Kraus (former Adviser to the Government of India for I. I.T., Madras, extreme right), Dr. G. A. Sonnenhol (Ministerialdirektor, Federal Republic of Germany, second from right), Dr. A. L. Mudaliar (Chairman, Board of Governors, third from right), Mr. Walter Scheel (Minister of Economic Cooperation, Federal Republic of Germany, fourth from right) and Prof. B. Sengupto (Director, fifth from right).
