One of the meetings during the visit of Prof. Hilbig, 1965

Administrators , Institute Events , Visiting VIPs

Prof. Hilbig came to IIT Madras along with Mr. Westphal from the Technical University, Berlin to take part in a series of meetings with the administrators and faculty of IIT Madras. This photograph was taken during one of the meetings. It appears that the photograph was taken outside IIT Madras, although it is difficult to determine the location. A Campastimes report mentions that Prof. Hilbig was an expert in Mine Surveying and Applied Geophysics. He studied at the universities of Breslau and Berlin, and in 1953 received his doctorate from the Technical University of Aachen. He was married to Adelheid Hilbig.

Sitting, from left, Prof. W. Koch (Physics Department), Prof. B. Sengupto (Director of IIT Madras) and Dr. P. Hilbig (Vice-Rector, Technical University, Berlin).
