Outside the Student Activities Centre with the General Championship trophy, 1999
This photograph was taken at the 35th Inter-IIT Sports Meet, which IIT Madras both hosted and won. The image features Prof. B. Viswanathan, the Dean of Students (seated third from the left), and IIT Madras Director, Prof. R. Natarajan (seated fourth from the left). The General Championship trophy can be seen in the centre among other trophies. We haven't identified the remaining trophies yet. From the Annual Report of IIT Madras, 1999, we know that IIT Madras had also won gold in the following events: athletics, badminton, basketball, hockey, table tennis and water polo. IITM bagged silver in cricket and weightlifting and bronze in swimming, tennis and volleyball.
We are yet to identify the students and the gentlemen next to Prof. Natarajan.
