This photograph was taken possibly after the event took place. We know from photographs and an Annual Number report that the meet was followed by “a sumptuous tea, after which the prize distribution was held.” It is likely that this photograph was taken around the time of the prize distribution event.

The event has been described in the IIT Madras Annual Number of 1963-1964. Lionel Paul, the Sports Secretary states in his report that the event was held on 1 and 2 February, 1964. Paul notes that there were relatively few entries from the city colleges but the event was a success.

In the image, from the left, Mr. Ananda Bhat (General Secretary), Prof. B. Sengupto (Director), Mr. Gerhard Fischer (Consul, Federal Republic of Germany) and Mr. R. Natarajan (Registrar) in conversation.
