This photograph was taken during the 63rd Republic Day event. The function was held in front of the Administration Building. In the image, Prof. Bhaskar Ramamurthi, Director of IIT Madras (2011-2022), is hoisting the Indian national flag as is done during Independence and Republic Days. SFO N. Elumalai and SSI D. Ramu are next to Director Bhaskar Ramamurthi.
On the left side of the photograph, a group of people wearing white is captured singing a patriotic song. The Republic Day event also saw the Director reviewing the security officers’ parade, a speech by the Director and renditions of several patriotic and national songs. It was attended by faculty and staff members, residents and students.
