Dr. Konrad Seitz (Ambassador, Federal Republic of Germany, left) visited the Institute along with his wife Eva (extreme right) in 1988 along with the rest of the West German officials who visited IIT Madras. The Siemens 7580-E Computer System was officially handed to IIT Madras during this function by Mr. Hans Klein (Minister for Economic Co-operation, Federal Republic of Germany). He is partially visible to the extreme left in the photograph.
Prof. L. S. Srinath (second from right) was the sixth Director of IIT Madras. Over the course of his career, Prof. Srinath made a number of significant contributions to science and technology. He was a veteran in the areas of Experimental Mechanics, Photoelasticity, Photothermoelasticity, Stress Wave Propagation in Solids.
