IIT Madras presents its highest award to alumni, known as the Distinguished Alumnus Award (DAA), during Institute Days. The people in the background of the photograph are that year’s recipients of the Distinguished Alumnus Award.

The chief guest for the ceremony was Mr. K. V. Rangaswami, an alumnus of IIT Madras, and at the time, the Whole-time Director & President (Construction), L&T Ltd.
