Prof. P. Srinivasa Rao (Dean of Students) was from the Mechanical Engineering Department. Here, he is seen addressing the audience at the 30th Inter-IIT Sports Meet. It was held at IIT Madras. Also seen in the image are Prof. Y. Narayana Rao (Dean of Academics, extreme left) and Prof. S. S. Gokhale (Sports Activities Advisor, seated third from left). The other gentleman in the picture is yet to be identified.
As per the 1994 Annual Report of IIT Madras, the initial two days of the event proceeded smoothly. Unfortunately, heavy rains impeded outdoor activities from taking place. Nonetheless, indoor games like basketball, volleyball, table tennis, badminton, and weightlifting continued as planned at the Student Activities Centre and the old badminton court.
