The photograph shows Prof. V. G. Idichandy presenting a memento to Derico Watson who was the drummer in the Jazz Show. The Jazz Show titled “Be the Change” was performed by R. Prasanna, with Jeff Coffin on the saxophone, Kai Eckhardt on the bass guitar and Derico Watson on the drums.

Be the Change was also the title of the album released by R. Prasanna in 2004. R. Prasanna, better known as Guitar Prasanna, is a musician best known for performing Carnatic music on the guitar, and is also an alumnus of IIT Madras, having studied Naval Architecture. He also graduated magna cum laude from Berklee College of Music, Boston.

Prof. V. G. Idichandy was Dean of Students, and Deputy Director at IIT Madras; he has also been Chairman of JEE and has held posts as a professor. The Jazz Show was held on 26 January 2005, the last day of Saarang 2005, which was held from 21 to 26 January.
