This photograph was taken during a special convocation held at IIT Madras to confer the degree of Doctor of Science (honoris causa) on Dr. Richard von Weizsäcker.
Dr. Weizsäcker was the President of the Federal Republic of Germany. He visited IIT Madras with his wife Marianne.
As seen in the picture, Prof. B. V. A. Rao (Head of Applied Mechanics Department) and Prof. C. S. Krishnamoorthy (Head of Civil Engineering Department, second from right). The other professors are yet to be identified.
