The Administration Building decorated for the 50th Institute Day, 2009
This photograph was taken on 17 April 2009 and shows the Administration Building of IIT Madras, decorated with lights on the 50th Institute Day. During Institute Days, there are several events where Prizes and awards such as the Distinguished Alumnus Award (DAA) were given to students and alumni. The Distinguished Alumnus Award is the highest award for alumni presented by IIT Madras.
The then Director of IIT Madras was Prof. M. S. Ananth who delivered a speech at the ceremony. Prof. M. S. Ananth was the Director of IIT Madras from 2001-2011. The chief guest for the Institute Day was Mr. K. V. Rangaswami, an alumnus of IIT Madras, and at the time, the Whole-time Director & President (Construction) of L&T Ltd.
