This photograph was taken on 17 April 2009 during the 50th Institute Day ceremony. During Institute Days, several Prizes and awards are given to students and alumni such as the Distinguished Alumnus Award (DAA). The Distinguished Alumnus Award is the highest award for alumni presented by IIT Madras.
This photograph has captured (from left to right) Mr. K. V. Rangaswami (chief guest) an alumnus of IIT Madras, and at the time, the Whole-time Director & President (Construction) of L&T Ltd, Mr. K. Ravi Kumar who was one of the Distinguished Alumnus awardees that year, and Prof. M. S. Ananth, the Director of IIT Madras (2001-2011).
Mr. K. Ravi Kumar was one of the recipients that year. He graduated from IIT Madras with an MTech in Electrical Engineering in 1972 and is most recently Chairman & Managing Director at Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd. The photograph shows the Director, Prof. M. S. Ananth, presenting the award to Mr. K. Ravi Kumar.
