The Gajendra Circle decorated for the 50th Institute Day, 2009

Institute Events , Institute Activities

This photograph was taken during the 50th Institute Day. As seen in the photograph, the Gajendra Circle had been decorated with lights for the Institute Day. The Gajendra Circle is one of IIT Madras’ most iconic and easily recognisable landmarks.

It is often decorated during institute events. The 50th Institute Day was celebrated on 17 April 2009 with Prof. M. S. Ananth, the Director of IIT Madras (2001-2011) presiding over the ceremony. Mr. K. V. Rangaswami, an alumnus of IIT Madras, and the then Whole-time Director & President (Construction) of L&T Ltd was the chief guest.
