This photograph was taken during the inauguration function of Mardi Gras in 1995. Seated on the stage (from the left to the right) are Prof. N. V. C. Swamy (Director, IIT Madras), Mr. Lalgudi Jayaraman, Prof. P. S. Rao (Dean of Student Affairs) and Prof. Ajit Kumar Kolar (Faculty Advisor, Cultural).
This photograph was taken during Mardi Gras in 1995. That was the last year in which the IIT Madras Cultural Festival was called so. It is now known as Saarang. This edition of Mardi Gras was held from January 24-29 1995. The brochure for that year names the theme of Mardi Gras as "Back with a bang!" with programmes across the categories of literary, debating, arts, musical and informal events.
