In the photograph, Malcolm Panthaki (Civil Engineering, batch of 1984) can be seen near the microphone, and various other students are seated engaged in a discussion. The music quiz was an event that covered a broad spectrum of music. The rules were identical to the main quiz, however one significant difference was that individuals participated in teams of three in the music quiz, as compared to two sets of six, in the main quiz.

Several events took place at the Central Lecture Theatre during 1983 including certain informal events, main quiz, music quiz and so on. The Mardi Gras events took place in areas within the campus at areas such as the Open Air Theatre, Shanti Kunj, Central Lecture Theatre, other halls at Humanities and Sciences Block (such as Physics Lecture Theatre and Chemistry Lecture Theatre) and areas in between.

N S Vinodh. After completing an early education in Bangalore, N. S. Vinodh obtained his B. Tech. in Civil Engineering from IIT Madras in 1986. Being the secretary of the Photography Club at IIT Madras during his third year, he was an avid photography enthusiast. He then went on to complete his MBA from IIM, Lucknow, and later spent his career holding senior positions in the field of Corporate Real Estate with leading multinational financial services companies. He continued to pursue his hobby of photography, integrating it with his love of travel and wildlife.
