At the Open Air Theatre of IIT Madras, 1974

Visiting VIPs , Administrators , Institute Events

This photograph was taken during the initiation event that was held to formally start the final phase of the construction of the swimming pool at IIT Madras. Mr. K. K. Shah (Governor of Tamil Nadu) was the chief guest for this event.

According to the event itinerary prepared by the Institute, the invocation for the event was planned for 7:10 p.m. to 7:12 p.m.. However, the itinerary also states that the national anthem was sung at the end of the event. Hence, it is not clear to us if this photograph was taken during the invocation or the national anthem.

Seen in the photograph, from left, a student who is yet to be identified, Prof. R. K. Gupta (Dean of Student Affairs), Prof. K. A. V. Pandalai (Director of IIT Madras), Mr. K. K. Shah (Governor of Tamil Nadu), an unidentified gentleman and Prof. S. Sampath (Deputy Director). The other persons in the photograph are yet to be identified.
