In the second row, to the left of Mr. S. Rajaraman is Prof. C. Ramasastry (Physics Department). The first on the right end of the first row is Prof. S. Sampath (Deputy Director, IITM).


In December 1968, IIT Madras conducted, with assistance from the Technical Physics Division of the Bhabha Atomic Research Centre, Trombay, a three-week course in ‘High-Vacuum Technology’. There were 54 participants, drawn from academic institutions, research laboratories and industrial establishments. Dr. H. N. Sethna, Director, Bhabha Atomic Research Centre, Trombay, delivered the valedictory address for the course.
