This photograph was taken during the 20th convocation of IIT Madras. It shows the chief guest Mr. Giani Zail Singh (President of India) meeting faculty of the Institute. It is likely that he met the faculty before the convocation commenced. It appears that the Director of IIT Madras took the chief guest and the other distinguished guests around and introduced them to the faculty from various departments.
