At the special convocation held in 1991
This photograph was taken during a special convocation held at IIT Madras to confer the degree of Doctor of Science (honoris causa) on Dr. Richard von Weizsäcker.
Dr. Weizsäcker was the President of the Federal Republic of Germany. He visited IIT Madras with his wife Marianne. Mrs. Marianne von Weizsäcker can be seen seated in the first row, third from right. Also featured in the picture are Ms. Maneka Gandhi (Union Minister of State [Independent Charge], Environment and Forests, extreme right in first row) and Mrs. Eva Seitz (wife of German Ambassador Konrad Seitz). The person seen sixth from the right in the first row appears to be Mr. A. L. Mudaliar (former Chairman, Board of Governors). The other persons in the photograph are yet to be identified.
