Two students play the tabla and santoor, Mardi Gras 1983

Cultural Events , Student Activities

In this photograph, two students play the tabla and santoor. Also visible in the image are the tabla cushions that are used to rest the tablas. On the stage, there is also a harmonium that is not being used by the students in this photograph.

This photograph shows these two students performing music at the Central Lecture Theatre (CLT) during Mardi Gras in 1983. The musical instruments they are using are tablas and a harmonium.

Mardi Gras, now known as Saarang, was a cultural festival occurring annually for 5 days with dance, music, quiz, drama, debate, sketching and other competitions. Mardi Gras 1983 took place from 26 to 30 January 1983. From the name that this album was given, this album seems to contain images from day 2 of Mardi Gras ‘83, suggesting that this photograph was taken on 27 January 1983.
