This photograph was taken on January 24 in 2005 during a performance by French rock band Matmatah. Matmatah makes music in genres such as folk and rock. Their latest album at the time was Archie Kramer (2004) following which they went on a  world tour in the end of October that year. The current members of Matmatah are Tristan Nihouarn (Stan), Éric Digaire (Éric), Benoît Fournier (Scholl) and Manu Baroux. The new NCC building was inaugurated on NCC Day on 14 December 1965. The chief guest for the event was Major General Virendra Singh who was the Director-General of the NCC at the time. Mr. Sethunathan was the second Registrar of IIT Madras after Mr. R. Natarajan. He assumed his role as Registrar on 5 April 1965, according to the Annual Report of IIT Madras, 1964-65. NCC Day was on 14 December 1965, it was the same day that the NCC building was inaugurated by Major General Virendra Singh (Director-General, NCC). The dates have been confirmed by the Annual Number of IIT Madras, 1965-66. Singh had also come to IIT Madras as chief guest during NCC Day on 4 December 1963. Prof. B. Sengupto (Director of IIT Madras) is seen in the background between the two officers who are wearing a white uniform.
