The invocation song is sung to initiate or begin auspicious days such as the one in the photograph: the inauguration of the 2005 edition of the 6-day annual cultural festival of IIT Madras, Saarang. Saarang 2005 was held from 21 to 26 January.  Numerous events and competitions, professional live music shows and workshops took place during the cultural festival.
