This photograph was taken during one of the competitions held at IIT Madras’ annual event Saarang. According to the Director’s Report in the Annual Number of IIT Madras 2002-2003, Saarang was organized in the third week of January 2003. The report also mentions programmes such as “Design Contests, Paper Presentation Contests, Entrepreneurship Contests, Video Conferences, Lectures by eminent personalities, and classical and modern musical performances” were held at the event. One of the shows had the saxophonist Kadri Gopalnath perform with Moksha, the rock band. However, the band in the photograph appears to be a different group.
