This photograph was taken during IIT Madras’ annual cultural and social fest Saarang. The image shows a group of persons possibly watching an event. There were plenty of contests and competitions which took place in this year, including Western music contests, quizzes, light music contests, dramatics competitions and much more. This photograph was taken at a ticket counter during Saarang 2003. Judging by the poster of the show, we can guess that tickets were being sold for rock night. The Mumbai-based thrash metal band Brahma headlined the rock show on 26 January, which was the final night of this year’s Saarang. Album 0121 in the Central Photographic Section Collection contains photographs from the show by Brahma. We are not sure who the persons in the photograph are. This photograph was taken during Saarang 2003 at IIT Madras. Saarang, an annual cultural and social fest of IIT Madras, took place towards the end of January in 2003. There were many events and competitions organized for the participants. We are not sure who the persons in the photograph are. It is likely that the younger boys are from schools in Chennai, but this is yet to be confirmed. If you have any information about the individuals in the photograph, please reach out to us.

This photograph was taken during IIT Madras’ annual cultural and social event Saarang. It appears that the persons in the photograph are taking part in a dance event, but it is not clear to us who the individuals are, nor do we know the name of the event. We do know that there were plenty of events organized at Saarang and also that participants from various colleges in the city and country took part in the various competitions and contests.
