This photograph appears to have been taken soon after the service began (soup bowls on the table). It is difficult to determine from the picture what exactly was on the menu. Dr. Vikram A. Sarabhai was the chief guest for the fifth convocation of IIT Madras. He was Head of the Atomic Energy Commission at this time. Dr. A. L. Mudaliar was the Chairman of the Board of Governors and Prof. A. Ramachandran was the Director of the Institute.
