The academic procession enters the Open Air Theatre and makes its way to the dais

The convocation took place at the Institute’s Open Air Theatre. The chief guest and speaker at this event was Dr. S. Bhagavantam, Scientific Advisor to the Ministry of Defence, Government of India. Mr. H. V. R. Iengar (sixth Governor of the Reserve bank of India), the Chairman of the Board of Governors, presided over the ceremony. After being presented a guard of honour by the cadets of the N.C.C, Dr. S. Bhagavantam was received by Mr. H. V. R. Iengar, who introduced him to all the members of the Board of Governors, Council and Senate who were present at the occasion before proceeding to don the academic robes for the ceremony. The dignitaries then proceeded to the convocation venue in a procession of two’s. The academic procession was headed by the Registrar while the chief guest and Director entered at the end of the procession.
